Thoughtful Thursday: Don’t Take It Personally

Unknown

Good Morning all!!  I hope everyones day is off to a successful start!  Today for my Thoughtful Thursday: Jewels For Thought, I wanted to share a post regarding an article I read yesterday; in which the writer gave her horrific account of when she found out the people whom she thought were her friends, were in fact hating on her behind her back.  Here’s the short & long of it: Girl has a friend, friend invites girl and her friend on a girls soiree out of the country, girl jumps at the opportunity (because who wouldn’t want to do a trip with friends?), girl and friends are on the beach and girl asks friend to take a photo of her, friend makes a snarky remark about girl “already having too many pictures of herself”, girl laughs it off (yet thinks nothing of it), girl uses friends phone to send group photos from friends phone to her phone, girl finds text from friend (and other friend) talking about her in a not so pleasant manner, girl is mortified.  Reading this story made me think about how many people (on a daily basis) are smiling in your face, yet secretly loathing your existence.  I find that a lot of times people who do this are unhappy with themselves, making their behavior or feelings towards you irrelevant as it has absolutely nothing to do with you (per se).  Often we forget that most of the things that people do to us have nothing to do with us, but more about them.  How you carry yourself, your sunny disposition, and extroversion may cause other people to feel uncomfortable because they they too wish they could exude all those quality traits.  While these people work on themselves just remember to: keep calm & don’t take it personally!

Happy Wednesday!!! For my BCW I thought it would be a great idea to a post about a well known beauty must have.  *Side Note* I think starting hence fourth, I will officially make Wednesdays,”Beauty Crush wednesdays”, A.k.A BCW!  These posts will be exclusively written with all things beauty in-mind!  Any-who, to kick-off the official start of Beauty crush Wednesdays, I’m going to be reviewing one of my favorite can’t live without beauty items (and a must have in any MUA’s kit): Embryolisse Lait-Cream Concentre.  This velvety moisturizer gives skin the ultimate silky finish, thanks to generous amounts of soothing shea butter and aloe vera. It’’s rich without being heavy, and can be used on all skin types.  I especially need this because my skincare regiment is not only rigorous, but sometimes harsh, & this cream literally revives my dull-dried skin!

Here is the suggested use: Apply a generous amount to hands and neck. To use as a makeup remover, add a small amount to a cotton ball and gently wipe away makeup. Be careful not to get it in your eyes. Rinse thoroughly and follow with your favorite cleanser.

How I use:  After using an exfoliant, and my Clarisonic Brush (with African Black Soap), I tone (with whitch hazel, a dab of lavender oil, and tea tree oil), and then apply only a dime sized amount (because its concentrated) to my hands and neck, and VIOLA!!!  Instant glow guaranteed!  This cream makes the perfect pre-moisturizer for your face before you apply your makeup!  It creates that healthy barrier that you need to protect your skin from the sometimes harsh chemicals from makeup!  Click the link for where to purchase, give it a try, and tell me what you think!

Whilst I have the time today, I thought I would introduce a new post to my blog about one of my favorite beauty must haves (& one that I most certainly cannot live without), LUSH’s Ro’s Argan Body Conditioner.  Aside from the subtle smell of rose & coco butter (being the absolute best), this baby can transform the most scaliest & driest skin, into soft, glowing skin!!!  Your supposed to use it as a conditioner, meaning that you apply (when wet) and then rinse it off.  How I apply it:  after I’ve showered of course & with dewy skin.  I wear it over night so that it can absorb into my skin, and then I shower in the morning!!!  My skin gets really dry so I don’t have a problem leaving it on over night or all day, plus a little bit goes a long way ; so at a whopping $33 a jar, this can very well last you about 2 months.  The formula is a little greasy and can wreak havoc on your sheets (just a heads up).  If you can get past that, then I whole heartedly recommend you try this absolutely must have beauty Fave!

Trending Tuesday: Strobing

Greetings to all,

I hope that your morning is off to an awesome start (as mine is).  For todays’ Trending Tuesday post I wanted to talk about the new phenomenon and beauty technique called strobing!!!  Let me start off by saying that I RARELY wear make up, and if I do (normally at weddings, or galas) then I prefer to go the more natural route.  By “Natural” I mean: primer, concealer (Bobbi Brown), and a dab of liquid foundation (MAC Studio Fix).  Because my makeup wear is limited to only those special occasions, I think it would be fair (at best) to note that my skill set (in application) is very limited, so no contouring for me!!!  I should also note that while given the fact that I have an oval shaped face with very high cheekbones, I am not a good candidate for contouring; and doing so gives me an androgynous look (in my opinion).  Thats where strobing comes in.  Strobing is great for those that already have good facial definition (such as myself) and are only seeking to highlight and draw light to those certain areas giving off a “glow”,using little to no skill at all!!  Because this techniques is all about highlighting, a great highlighter, or bronzer is your best friend in achieving this dewy, glowing look!  I personally recommend the Becca highlighter (please see my beauty crush post for the deetz on this product!)… but I digress, just use the chart to highlight the lighted areas shown in the chart below & Viola!!!
