Greetings!!! Todays Trending Tuesday topic is literally giving me goosebumps!!!  I am soooooo excited because not since the last designer collaboration (Balmain for H&M) that was done caused mass hysteria (followed by people camping outside the night before the release) have I wanted something so bad!!  I am most certainly sure that this collab will be no different!! Kenzo just announced their collaboration with fashion retailer H&M.  They haven’t given out the full deetz about the look, but if its anything like the KENZO line (and I’m sure it will be) then, we will definitely be in for a treat!  Kenzō Takada is a Japanese-French fashion designer and the founder of Kenzo, a worldwide brand of perfumes, skincare products and clothes. The KENZO clothing line is known for their bold & striking prints.  Their mascot (a fierce colorful tiger) can be seen plaster on many of their sweatshirts.  Takada announced his retirement in 1999 to purse a career in art, leaving his assistants in charge of his fashion house and since 1993 the brand has been owned by the French luxury goods company LVMH.  I am determined to snag a few pieces from this collection (by hook or by crook).  Ironically speaking, the collaboration launches on my birthday, I think its definitely kismet!

Sunday Fun-day: Shopping For Graduation Dresses

Happy Sunday to all!  If your on the east coast like me then your sick and tired of this rainy weather!  Rather than spend time in the house (praying for sunshine), I decided to take my daughter out to look for a graduation dress.  What I thought would be a daunting task, turned out to be “easy-breezy-peasy”!!! We hit the jackpot at our first store.  There were four potential dresses (all of them were similar in style and color), but the details of the dress that we picked had us SOLD!  I had purchased her shoes (see photo below) from one of my favorite sites LuLu’s.com 2 weeks ago, so we were all good to go on that end.  That was a toughie, considering that my daughter is 14, thin, leggy, and wears a size 9 in women’s.  Typically I would have just opted for a ballet flat, but ballet flats can look really plain.  My daughter has so many that they all start to look the same.  I thought it was time that I explore other options like a cute age appropriate heel.  I wanted a sandal with a heel that was not too high or thin, and I found just that!  I wasn’t sure that if she would like them, but she absolutely loves them.  She loved them so much she wore them to her 8th grade dance!!  She convinced me by saying that she needed to practice wearing them before graduation, so that she could become used to wearing a shoe with a heel, lol!!  Her complete ensemble is pictured above!

Fo-Real Saturday: Maryland Zombie Foreclosures

Imagine this scenario: You and your family complete the “American Dream” by purchasing a 4 bedroom, 3 bath home in the suburbs complete with a white picket fence.  Several years down the road, you lose your job, and you and your family are no longer capable of of affording the mortgage on your dream home.  You move your family out after foreclosure has been started, but for some reason the foreclosure is cancelled, the sale is never held, or title is never officially transferred to a new owner.  As a result, title remains in your name.  This is known as a Zombie Foreclosure, and according to Realty Trac 9.7% of houses and condos in foreclosure in Baltimore are vacant.  Those staggering results are tantamount to abandoned property, and can not only wreak havoc on a persons credit, but does absolutely nothing for property values in the area.  So as not to become the victim a Zombie Foreclosure, it is imperative that you remain in your home for as long as possible during a foreclosure; and see the entire process through and wait for an official notice to vacate before actually moving out.  It is also recommended that you receive the confirmation of transfer of title.  This can be done by visiting the county recorder’s office in which the property is located to make sure a new deed has been recorded. You can also check your local county recorder’s website.  There are even online search tool you can use to find out which documents have been recorded.  Please protect your credit & avoid becoming the victim of a Zombie Foreclosure.

Fab Find Friday: MCM iPhone 6 Case

Happy Friday.  If your anything like me, then you’re celebrating the arrival of the weekend; and to that I say Hooray!!!!  If you don’t know by now (then you most certainly haven’t been reading my posts), I am a collector of ALL things MCM!  So this weeks fab find is once again centered around MCM (sorry guys!!).  I must confess that the only reason for this MCM post stems from the fact that EVERY time I’m spotted with my phone case, I am almost immediately bombarded with questions as to where I purchased it from.  So here’s to all the inquiring minds: The MCM ‘Claus’ iPhone 6 Plus Case (shown to the right and left) comes in gold has a metallic logo print, or the classic Cognac Visetos print with a cute bunny in the center.  This case adds street-savvy appeal to the typical (and often standard) hard-shell iPhone case.  I must say that at first glance I was nervous about the case because it looks like a case that’s more for fashion & not function; meaning that it lacks the overall basic function of  any phone case (which would be to protect the phone).  This case is not only fashionable, it most certainly functions well as a good protective case that keeps your tech cool and scratch-free.  I have dropped my phone several times and I must say that I was quite impressed with how well it kept my phone safe.  I must note, that two of those times that I dropped my phone, I cracked the glass screen protector; and so I HIGHLY recommend purchasing a glass screen protector (for any case you have)!  The gold color is unfortunately sold out, but other select styles are available for purchase at Nordstrom & Saks Fifth Avenue, ranging from $135 to $175.  Let me know what you think, would you rock this?

Thoughtful Thursday: Achieving your Goals

Happy Thursday!!  In keeping with the “Motivational Monday” theme this week of Goals.  Todays Post is directly aimed at goal achieving!  When you think of goals its important to first classify them in two categories: Long-term and Short-term.  As both names suggest, long-term goals are goals that take a long time to achieve, and short-term goals are something you want to do in the near future.  The near future can mean today, this week, this month, or even this year.  The common mistake that is made when it comes to goal setting, is that we often set deadlines, but not schedules.  According to an article written on jamesclear.com on goal setting, “we focus on the end goal that we want to achieve and the deadline we want to do it by.  We say things like, “I want to lose 20 pounds by the summer” or “I want to add 50 pounds to my bench press in the next 12 weeks.”; but we fail to come up with a plan so that we can set a schedule as to how we expect to actually achieve those goals.  My motto has and always will be “If you fail to plan, plan to fail”, and this saying is true for anything that you do in life.  In an era where “Dream Boards”, and “Vision Boards” are trending, I consider myself to be an “Old Fashioned” type of gal.  I go straight to pen and pad and write down my goals, and the necessary steps that I must take in order to achieve them.  If you follow your plan that outlines those steps that you need to take in order to achieve your goal, then you are almost always sure to come out on top!  If your a visual learner, then by all means create your board.  Just make sure your board includes a plan on how to reach your goal.  Remember ,”A goal without a plan is just a wish”.

Much like finding the perfect nude anything, finding the perfect nude polish is no easy feat!!  The versatility of this polish manages to defy all the rules of “Tonal Gravity”!! Tonal Gravity (a saying that I just made up) means something that is capable of working with all skin tones!!  When choosing my polishes I opt for colors that are seasonal, yet neutral; and I almost always have my toes match my feet.  During the Springtime this is my definite go to polish!  If your looking for a nude polish that can defy the laws of Tonal Gravity, this is one that won’t disappoint.  Try it out and let me know what you think!

Trending Tuesdays: Destroyed Denim

Screen Shot 2016-05-17 at 9.26.34 PM

Greetings World!!  Staring today I will be structuring my blog slightly different!  Each day will be dedicated to a specific topic.  So from hence fourth today will forever be Trending Tuesdays’.  On this day I will post topics about things that are currently trending.  So in keeping with the new structure of this blog, todays Trending Tuesday topic is Destroyed Denim. Before we delve into the Distress trend, we must first look at the overall history of “The Blue Jean”.  In fashion (& throughout out history) the word Blue Jean (like Thomas Edisons’ invention of the lightbulb), is synonymous with its creator, Levi Strauss.  Leob Strauss, (who later changed his first name to Levi Strauss), was a pedlar who had immigrated to North America from Bavaria, followed the Gold Rush in California in the 1850s to sell his goods. The miners asked him for sturdy and durable work pants. With the help of a tailor, Strauss put together work pants that were supposedly made out of the canvas he had brought with him for the assembly of tents. In the 1860s, he began to fabricate pants made from heavyweight denim, and because the pants were dyed with indigo they were named “blue jeans” (retrieved from, http://www.fashionintime.org/history-jeans/).  The distressed look however didn’t come about until the late eighties during the hard rock/heavy metal era and in the 1990s and 2000s during the grunge era, being worn by grunge artists. Worn and ripped jeans still remain popular, and are commonly referred to as “distressed”.  Although this trend has evolved over the years, I think it’s safe to say that this trend is here to stay & will never go out of style.  What are your thoughts, are you here for this evolving trend?

Fab Finds Friday: Beats X MCM HeadPhones…

Beats X MCM Collection

Beats X MCM Collection

Good afternoon,  I thought I would do a real quick post before I left the office.  Typically when I leave work i’m headed straight to the gym for some much needed cardio!   I thought it would be befitting to do my Fab Find Friday,  post on one of my favorite finds this year and is oneone of my gym must haves.  Flash back to how it all began………So I’m on one of my favorite sites called Polyvore (where I regularly peruse for unique finds), and decided to type MCM in their search engine.  Aside from the typical Stark Backpack and handbag, imagine my surprise when I accidentally stumbled across these babies.  Let me first start off by saying that I am an avid collector of all things MCM (an acronym that I once though stood for “Making Cash Money”; which I would later learn stood for Michael Cromer Munchen, and now stands for Mode Creation Munich…but thats a story for another day).  It is absolutely one of my FAVORITE brands hands down!  Apparently beats by Dr. Dre partnered with the German luxury brand (MCM) to design special edition headsets.  Because I was definitely in need of new beats (the solos are not durable at all, plus the wire gets on my nerves), I thought why not get these wireless beats!!!  Available at Bloomingdales, the Beats x MCM Collection includes Beats Studio Wireless headphones ($599.95), Beats Pill Character bundle portable wireless speaker with stand ($399.95) and Tour earbuds ($294.95); all of which are purchased separately.  The stylish cases are wrapped in MCM’s Cognac iconic Visetos Monogram and the Beats Pill Character bundle comes complete with a functional mini MCM gold-studded backpack (that can be used as a key fob).  I must confess that I don’t rock them everyday, but every time I wear them someone is always stopping me to ask where I got them from.  And while I will be the first to admit that $599.95 is a stretch to pay for headphones, I do look pretty fly while i’m working out!  Would you rock these?
